Punjab CM asks Imran to give proof of 25 deaths

LAHORE: The caretaker Punjab government has asked the PTI to provide proof of the killing of 25 people in the May 9 incidents for investigation into the matter.

“Investigation will be launched if the names of 25 people killed in riots are given to the government,” caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi said here on Wednesday.

PTI chief Imran Khan had claimed that 25 people were killed during violent clashes on May 9.

He reiterated that only 11 women prisoners, belonging to PTI, were in jails across the province and a four-time counter check was made after every arrest.

Information Minister Amir Mir said of 300 women involved in the May 9 violence, 46 had been arrested so far. Of them, 29 had been released on bail, he said and contradicted the CM’s claim of the arrest of 11 PTI women. “Some 17 women are in prisons for the identification parade,” Mir said.

Israel, Hamas agree to truce, 50 hostages to be released

Israel and Hamas agreed to a four-day truce that would see the Palestinian group release dozens of hostages taken on October 7 , both sides announced Wednesday. Families of those facing military courts call for their fair trial

LAHORE: The families of PTI activists facing military court proceedings in cases regarding the May 9 violence demanded a fair trial for their dear ones. Over a dozen family me­­mbers of PTI activists who are currently facing trial before military cou­rts, and their lawyers Rab­biya Bajwa and Abuzar Salman Niazi, addressed a press conference at the Lahore Press Club on Sunday. Ms Bajwa said that there was a criminal silence over the violation of the basic human rights in Pakistan, adding that they would launch a campaign to wake the people to stand against the violation of human rights and Constitution of Pakistan.
